Mary Christensen

October 7, 1921 — June 25, 2013

Mary Ellen Christensen, most fondly referred to as Aunt Mary, passed away peacefully June 25, 2013 surrounded by family. She was born October 7, 1921 in Kemmerer, Wyoming to Martin and Sarah Edna Porter Christensen. The fourth child of seven. Mary is remembered as a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt. She worked for both Cudahy Packing Company and the State of Utah in workforce services, but her real legacy is found in her love for and dedication to her family, church, and community. Mary watched over three generations of nieces and nephews, opening her heart and her home to scores of children who love her fiercely. She served in many callings in the LDS church, including two full-time missions, and spent several years as a Salt Lake Temple worker. She loved children and music, was an avid bowler, and was always outside beautifying her yard through gardening.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Sarah Burns and Vivian Perkins; by her brothers, Vern N. Christensen (Gayle) and Robert H. Christensen (Jerry); and by many nieces and nephews who were an important part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Edwin M. and Calvin P. Christensen, and several sisters and brothers-in-law.
A special thanks to legacy hospice for all the wonderful care they gave her.
We will miss you, Mary. Our lives were better for having you in them.
