Mary Elizabeth Pitt Hess, 37, died November 26, 2017 of causes related to mental illness, and as she would say, “a broken heart.” She was born July 17, 1980 in Bountiful, Utah. Mary graduated from Viewmont High School where she was active in sports and singing. Her love of reading and writing led her to receive a degree in English from Brigham Young University.
To know Mary was to know how much she loved. She loved her Heavenly Father and knew that He loved her. She loved the temple and enjoyed serving as an ordinance worker there. She loved kids and especially loved time she had with her nieces and nephews. She loved to cook and would often serve others by sharing her yummy desserts. She also loved music, key-lime pie, cinnamon bears, pretzels, TV shows, movies, journals, everything homemade and the color purple.
The motto she lived by was “no day is wasted.”
Mary is now finally able to truly celebrate her beautiful marriage to Samuel Paul Hess– a marriage that was sealed on earth but is now just beginning in heaven.
She continues to be loved by her parents, Bruce and Linda Pitt, ten brothers and sisters, 19 brothers and sisters-in-law, and 51 nieces and nephews (two of which she is now holding in her arms). She is also adored by parents-in-law, Paul and Ann Hess, who love her as their own—particularly her best friend and mother-in-law Martha, who has welcomed Mary home.
