Mary Elizabeth Pilkington Sandall

August 2, 1989 — December 17, 2017

Bountiful, Utah. Mary Elizabeth Pilkington Sandall, 28 years young, passed away suddenly due to the hemorrhage of an undetected brain aneurysm on December 17, 2017.  Mary peacefully slipped from this life into the next while in the arms of her husband Andrew and their children Nolan (4), Naomi (2) and Margaret (2 months).

Born to Betsy B. and Van R. Pilkington on August 2, 1989 at LDS Hospital, SLC.  As a child, Mary was gifted in her ability to read and write. She was an excellent runner and athlete. She excelled with her lessons in ballet, gymnastics, piano and voice, providing her with opportunities to be in Ballet West’s Nutcracker, Jr High and High School cheerleading squads and numerous choirs as well as playing the piano and organ in Sacrament Meeting. Educationally, Mary attended Boulton Elementary, Mueller Park Junior High, graduated from Bountiful High School in 2007 and earned her Health Sciences, BS from the University of Utah in 2012.  Mary enjoyed work and being involved.  As a teenager, she taught swimming and gymnastics lessons. While in college she worked in retail sales. She later worked at Pilkington Metal Finishing, earning a Professional credential in Human Resources (PHR).

Mary’s family was her greatest source of joy. She loved her brothers dearly and they adored her. Growing up with five brothers sharpened Mary’s wit. She was hilarious and loved to tease and be teased. Her mother was one of her best friends and confidants. Mary idolized her mother and strived to emulate her ability to nurture and serve. Mary inherited her confidence, boldness, and gorgeous brown eyes from her father, who she deeply admired and respected.

Mary was married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple to Andrew Craig Sandall in February 2010. Mary dearly loved Andrew, her cherished companion who provided the foundation for their eternal family, helping her to flourish as wife and mother. Her children were her crowning achievement. She loved being a mother more than anything in this world. She gave herself completely to her children. Her ability to nurture and care for them came naturally. She loved to build train-tracks with her sweet Noley-Boy, who carries with him her enthusiasm for life. Mary was elated when playing and being silly with her darling Nomi-Pie, who inherits her femininity and grace. Mary adored her angelic Margaret and held her constantly for the precious few weeks they spent together.

Gifted with compassion, Mary enjoyed the friendship of people of all ages and backgrounds. Mary’s genuine confidence came from her knowledge that she is a daughter of God, a knowledge she put into action. She was an example of a true believer. She loved the scriptures and found moments throughout the day to teach her children true principles of the Gospel. Primary songs were always included during bedtime songfests. Her abiding testimony of the Savior was the force behind all her good works.

Mary is also survived by her parents Van and Betsy Pilkington, brothers John (Amy), David (Catie), Michael (Annette), Danny (Veronica) and Samuel, 16 nieces and nephews and her parents in-law Steve and JoAnne Sandall.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Bountiful Heights Stake Center, 33 South Moss Hill Drive, where a viewing will be held Friday evening from 6-8 pm and Saturday morning 9:30-10:45 am prior to services. Interment – Bountiful City Cemetery.
