Mary Groves Mathews

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, Sister & Friend passed away on November 10, 2010, at the age of 90. Lorene was born December 19, 1919 in Bountiful. Daughter of Ernest & Ethylene Groves. She married Elmo (Red) Mathews July 6, 1940. She is survived by her children, daughters, Carolyn Simonsen, Jeannie Schreck, and Sandy McMullin; son, Ronald Mathews; and her sister Elaine Simmons of Bountiful; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. There is much rejoicing in heaven with her parents, husband (Red); sister, Relda; brother Ken; daughter Betty Launer; son-in-laws Gary Launer, Gary Shreck; granddaughter, Anissa Kaye Launer and other friends and family. Lorene will always be remembered for her beautiful crocheting, quilting, love for her family & she baked the best chocolate pies ever created. She was always cheering for the Jazz A gambling Granny, played the harmonica & loved her cats & dogs. She enjoyed the company of her family & was always seen waving goodbye from the front window. Services will be at Saturday, November 13th at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Bountiful at 12 Noon. The viewing will be Friday evening from 6-8pm & Saturday one hour prior to the funeral.
