Mary Loenza Freeman

Mary L. Freeman, loving mother, grandma, great-grandma and friend passed away Sunday, 2 April 2017 at her home, of natural causes.

Born 2 June 1924 in Oasis and raised in Garland, Utah, Mary was the 4th of 6 children born to Leslie and Loenza Wassom.  She married the love of her life, Dwight Carl Freeman, in the Logan Temple September 29th, 1943.  In 1956, they moved their family to their “final home” in Bountiful.

Mary was a unit manager in the Davis School district lunch program for over 30 years back when everything was prepared from scratch.  She was always a hard worker and known for her delicious cooking, immaculate house and beautiful gardens.  She loved reading and shared many books with others.  She was a also an avid Jazz fan.

Mary was such an amazing person, opening her home and heart to many, never turning anyone away,  and showing love through many small and simple acts.  She has touched many lives through her example.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Operations Smile.  God speed Mary (mom, grandma) we love you — until we meet again.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Carl Freeman and all her siblings. She leaves behind four children, Nancy (Dan) Litchford, D. Carl (Charlene) Freeman, Paul (Deanne) Freeman and Dan (Tracy) Halterman, eighteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter.

A viewing will be held Saturday, April 8th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. with Funeral services immediately following at 1:00 p.m. at the Orchard lst Ward 3707 S. 800 W. Bountiful.  Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery.
