Masae Nishimoto

September 6, 1914 — October 11, 2017

Masae Nishimoto was born to Shosaku Sakuma and Hisako Nagai on September 6, 1914 in Los Angeles, California.  She moved to Japan to get her education.  She had one brother who died at age four.  Masae was married to Shigeso Nishimoto on September 7, 1931 and returned to America where they opened a grocery store.  Soon they had their first girl but she unfortunately passed away at an early age.  After this loss they sold the store and moved back to Japan and had Sadao Joseph.  The family moved back to America where Shigeso worked on a farm on McDonald Island, California.  Masae worked as a cook.  Soon she gave birth to Satoru Ted and two years later Marion Sachie.  In 1941 World War II broke out and the family was evacuated to Rohwer Internment Camp in Arkansas.  They were interned for three years and when the war was over they moved to Utah.  Shigeso and Masae farmed and lived in Sunset and Clinton for 30 years.  Masae loved to knit, crochet, quilt, cook, garden, and practice Ikebana.  She lived a healthy life for 103 years and passed away peacefully in her sleep.  Masae had three children, 13 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. The viewing will be held on October 20, 1:00 at Russon Mortuary in Farmington and a grave side service at 3:00.  A Celebration of Life will be October 21, 12:00 at the Oakridge Country Club in Farmington.  A big thank you goes to Debra Baker and Barbara Stowell for their loving care during her last days.
