Matthew Duane Findling

June 12, 1997 — July 12, 2019

Matthew Duane Findling beloved son and brother passed away on July 12, 2019 in Woods Cross, Utah from Ewing's Sarcoma Cancer. At the time of his passing he was at home and surrounded by his family that loved him deeply. Mathew was born on June 12, 1997 in Mesa, Arizona to Terry Ray Findling and Sandra Petersen. He was a graduate of Susquehanna Township High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Matthew was an Eagle Scout. He was captain of the STHS Swim, Cross Country, and Track teams. Matthew received many athletic and academic awards during his high school career. He was a member of the state and national championship STHS Marching Band. Matthew was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a seminary graduate. He worked previously as a Lifeguard at Hershey Park and later at the South Davis Recreation Center.

Matthew is survived by his parents, his four brothers Zachary (Leticia), William, Thomas, and Joseph, his grandfather's Duane Findling and Milton Petersen, his grandmother Linda Findling, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Janet Petersen.

The family would like to thank the oncology teams at Milton Hershey Children's Hospital, St. Jude, and Primary Children's Hospital for the support and care they provided to Matthew.  We would also like to thank the Make-A-Wish Foundation for granting Matthew's wish to attend the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11:00 AM, at the Woods Cross 17th Ward Building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1847 W 2260 S, Woods Cross, UT 84087, where a viewing will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow the service at 3:30 PM at Hyde Park Cemetery, Hyde Park, Utah.
