Maxine Ahleen

October 1, 1922 — August 5, 2017

Norma Maxine (Hunter) Ahleen, age 94, passed away peacefully from natural causes on August 5, 2017, in Bountiful, Utah. She was born on October 1, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Malcom MacDuff Hunter and Norma (Felt) Hunter.

Maxine was raised in the Salt Lake Valley where she and her sister Leone made great memories together. She attended West High School. Following graduation, she met and married the love of her life, Wayne Ahleen, in 1942. Maxine was a fervent lover of life, always positive, encouraging and hard working. She was a devoted mother to 5 children. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served a mission in the Church Office building.  She was a avid quilter, an amazing golfer and loved to read. Maxine enjoyed attending the temple and tried to go weekly up until just a month prior to her passing. In addition to raising a family, she worked as a secretary her whole career, including 45 years with the Davis County School District.  

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Wayne; her sons Scott and Dennis Ahleen; grandson Justin W. Ahleen; and siblings Leone (Hunter) Gurr and Donald Hunter. She is survived by 3 children, Sharon (Dennis) Yearsley; Jan Morris; and Kent (Denise) Ahleen; daughters-in-law Patty Ahleen Thomas and Carolee Dean; 15 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. She will be missed by many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the Centerville North Stake Center, 1461 N Main St, Centerville, UT at 11:00 a.m.  Family and friends may visit Friday, August 11, 2017, at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah from 6:00.-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday at the Centerville North Stake Center from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services.  Interment will be at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
