Maxine Hovey

Our beloved mother, devoted grandmother, and dear friend, passed away June 19, 2007 at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, following a short illness. She was born February 25, 1920 in Cache Junction, Utah to Lucinda Fern Nilson and George Done Smith. She married Reid M. Hovey in the Logan LDS Temple on June 14, 1940. He preceded her in death on October 19, 1974. She attended Utah State University on a scholarship and received numerous awards for her homemaking and sewing skills. She blessed the lives of many with her music abilities. She lived many years with her family in the Washington, D.C. area before making her home in Bountiful in 1967. She loved to travel with her family and saw many parts of the world. She served in many capacities in her LDS wards over the years including leadership positions in Primary and Relief Society. She enjoyed working with the genealogy name extraction project in her stake for over 10 years. Her greatest joy has always been her children and grandchildren. She served them with unconditional love and was cherished by each of them. She enjoyed a large circle of friends and will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by her four sons: Glen R. Norma, Bountiful; Steven J. Judy, Woodbridge, VA; Roger S. Terrie, Scottsbluff, NE; and David M. Loreen, Bountiful; two daughters, Elaine Len Ellis, Orem; and Ranae Larry Covel, Las Vegas, NV; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; her brother, Hollis D. Smith Florence, SLC; and two sister-in-laws, Beth Eli Campbell, Boise, ID; and Del Mae Hovey, Ogden. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the Bountiful North Canyon 5th Ward Chapel, 2505 South Davis Blvd., where friends and family may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery. The family wishes to thank The Inn at Barton Creek, Dr. William Sadler, Lakeview Hospital and the Bountiful North Canyon 5th Ward Relief Society for their compassion and loving care.
