May, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on January 18th. She is survived by her daughters: Nancy Friend, Mabel Seyfried and Linda De Boer, and her son, Pete Horning, 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
May was one of 13 children, being the youngest daughter of George F Stocker and Minnie M Mack. She grew up on a farm in Bethlehem Pennsylvania. Her passion while still at home was her love of horses, which she trained and rode in shows. She always had very fond memories of her horse, Brownie, who she never forgot.
May started working in a silk mill in Bethlehem as a teenager. As an adult, she worked at Sure-Fit Products in Bethlehem for 18 years. When she moved to California, she worked at Licorice Pizza, a record warehouse in Glendale, CA for a few years before she retired.
May was married to Harold H Horning on 07/16/1949 until his death in 1982. She never remarried. He was the love of her life. She moved to California soon after his death and lived there until 2010. She then moved to Utah with her daughter, Linda, and lived with her family for 4 years. In 2014, she made the move to Apple Tree Assisted Living in Kaysville, UT, until her final days. We appreciate their loving support of May in her declining years. In 2016, Inspiration Hospice of Salt Lake City, UT also helped with May’s extra needs. Both the Apple Tree and Inspiration Hospice were both so supportive and loving of all her needs. They were her angels here on earth. They have our gratitude and respect.
There will be a viewing held from 11:45 A.M. – 12:45 P.M. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N Main Street, Farmington on Saturday, January 28th. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 P.M.
May will be cremated and laid to rest next to her husband at Northampton Memorial Shrine in Easton, PA.
