Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend left this earth on September 18th, 2022, due to a worn out, much used heart! She was 85 years old.
May was born to John and May Druce on August 22, 1937. She was the fifth child, and the oldest daughter of 13 children. She graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City in June of 1955. May was an excellent student and awarded a scholarship in both music and English.
In October of 1955, May married Zeldon “Ray” Webb. Ray was in the Air Force, and they spent the first 20 years of their marriage moving from place to place, including overseas. During that time, they had 6 of the most awesome children on the planet! In 1975, Ray retired and moved the family back to Utah where they purchased a home in Kaysville. By 1980, May and Ray had decided to go their separate ways. Mom continued to work as a supervisor at the Kaysville Post Office for several years. She worked tirelessly to support her children until she retired in 2000.
In 1996, May married Garth King. She lovingly embraced him, his 5 children, and their families. She was never stingy with her love!
May was an active, faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She rarely missed a church service. She was a strong leader and held many church positions. She served in the Relief Society, Primary, Young women’s organization, played piano and was ward chorister for church services, to name a few.
May was a multi-talented individual. She loved music. Julie Andrews and Doris Day were two of her favorite actors. May was athletic. She played on a softball team in Taiwan and a volleyball team in Kaysville. May was skilled in crafts including sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She was musically inclined and enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She loved to read and was a wonderful cook. There was always plenty of food at the house. No one ever went hungry at mom/grandma’s house! May had a great sense of humor, and she had a witty and playful side.
May loved her children and thought that they were her greatest accomplishments. Of course, she was right! She loved her grandchildren too. Her face would light up whenever she was around her grand-children and great-grandchildren. She had such a soft spot for children and babies!
May is survived by her children; Michael Webb, Palm Springs, Julie (Price) Meritt, Las Vegas, Lance (Stephanie) Webb, West Point, Rodney (Aimee) Webb, Farmington, and Susan (Dan) Delahunty, Kaysville. Her siblings, Lee Druce, Marvin Druce, David Druce, Steven Druce, Carol Burke and Janis Williams. Her stepchildren, Scott King, Kathy Buchanan, Laurie Miller, Jim King, and Marla Robinson. Her 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, multiple step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; too numerous to count.
May is preceded in death by her husband, Garth King, her parents, John and May Druce, her son, Stephen Webb, her daughter-in-law, Amy Gibby Webb, and her siblings, John Druce, Willard “Ray” Druce, Gerald Druce, Kenneth Druce, Milton Druce, and Patricia Balcom.
The family wishes to acknowledge all of May’s many friends. You were each incredibly special to her and she loved you so much! A special thank you to Whisper Cove’s entire staff including nurses and caregivers for providing love and the best care for our mom in her last days.
