During the evening of January 16, 2025, Megan Marie Gove passed away suddenly from complications after heart surgery at St. Mark’s Hospital in Millcreek, Utah. Her family was by her side each day during her stay at the hospital and are all immensely saddened by her passing.
Born May 28th, 1980 at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah to David Earl Gove and Sylva Jolynn Gove—who describe her as their miracle dream baby—Megan is survived by both parents, her older brother Colin Patrick Gove (Nicole), her older sister Amy Collette Black (David), nephews Dax (Abby) and Gabriel, nieces Devin (Court), Autumn (Zane), Morgan (Sean), Mae, and Valkyrie, and her boyfriend Chad Cotyk, who her family would like to thank for the happiness he brought her in her final years.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Charles and Maxine Gove and Gilbert and Rayma Pearce.
Megan’s kindness, warm nature, and compassionate soul are difficult to capture in words. The names of her various dogs Sparklebear, Gemma, and Ruby serve to illustrate her sparkling presence. She was many of her nieces’ and nephews’ first friend, and she would spend their visits playing various games and loving every second of it, and she remained close with them all throughout her life. She was also a film and television enthusiast to the point of encyclopedic knowledge and would often organize watch parties for the family and take friends and relatives to the movies. She worked in the healthcare industry for many years where her hard work earned her numerous promotions. Megan also lived with and helped care for her parents until her passing and was a responsible and loving presence in their lives. She also loved to take roadtrips across the country, bringing along her mother, siblings, nieces, and nephews as well as their friends and loved ones. What was most important about Megan was her ability to make sure everyone knew they were loved and cared for, and her smile will be unforgettable to all those that knew her. She lives on in the joy she brought and the generosity she showed to others.
The viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 24th, 2025, at Russon Mortuary (295 North Main St., Bountiful, Utah 84010). Her memorial will be announced at a later date.
