Melva Phillips Handy Bradshaw died peacefully at home of natural causes on October 27, 2021. She was 98 years old.
She was born September 26, 1923, the oldest child of Millie Holbrook and Frank Phillips in West Bountiful, Utah, where she resided until age 18. She attended school in West Bountiful, graduating from Davis High School in 1941. In 1945 she was a member of the 1st graduating Cadet Nursing class of the University of Utah in affiliation with St. Marks Hospital. That same year she joined the US Army Nurse Corps., serving during WWII. She married Ray J. Handy in 1946 (deceased in 1968). Married Arnold W. Bradshaw in 1994 (deceased in 2014). She was a member of the Oakridge Country Club.
She is survived by sons Monte Handy (Ardell), Steve Handy (Meg), Kent Handy (deceased), 2 step-sons, Bruce Bradshaw, Ted Bradshaw (deceased) (Marci Bradshaw); 7 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She will be honored with graveside services on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.
