Melvin Thain

Biography

Melvin Clair Thain peacefully departed from this life and returned to his Heavenly Home with his family gathered at his bedside on August 30, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Melvin was born November 1, 1936 in Benson Ward, Utah. He was the fourth child of seven children born to George William and Ann (Lemon) Thain.
Dad loved his boyhood and the experiences he had floating the Bear River and playing with his cousins on the farm.
Melvin married his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, Mardean Pearson. They were married October 7, 1955 in the Logan Temple. Together they shared their life with their 26 children.
Dad worked for Western Publishing Company for 20 years in the Consumer Products
Division.
He served lovingly in many church callings in the LDS church where he was a faithful member his entire life. He was a great example of enduring to the end.
Dad found great joy in his garden and many were the recipients of this great skill.
Dad left a wonderful legacy of courage, faith, integrity and an unwavering testimony of his Savior. Dad was a great example of what he believed in.
Melvin is survived by his wonderful wife, Mardean, their 26 children, 66 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his Brothers, George J (Clair) Thain Centerville, Utah, Marcus Wade (Elizabeth) Thain (Smithfield, UT) and one sister Coy (Fred) Luedtke, Whittier, California.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Ann (Lemon) Thain, his sisters Jewel Thain, Gloria (Thain) Reese, Jeaneen (Thain) Duffy, and a grandson Jason Lee Hawes.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012, at 2:00 pm at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful. Visitations will be Friday, September 7, between 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, and between 12:30-1:45 p.m. prior to services at Russon Brothers. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
