Meredith Wright Moss, who died tragically and unexpectedly during the early morning of October 23, 2012, was born February 12, 1938 in Deming, New Mexico where her father, Glen was employed by the former Mountain States Telephone Company. Merediths family including her older sister Glenna Wright Brown (now deceased) and her younger brother, Paul Wright, later moved north to Denver, Colorado where Glen retired from Mountain States in 1970.
Meredith graduated in 1956 from East Denver High school and later got her BA from BYU in English Literature in 1960. In 1961 Meredith agreed to marry Jim Moss thereby making him one of the earths happiest men until she died this past Tuesday as a result of a freak fall down the stairs in their home at 2:00 a.m. Meredith later died in the emergency hospital at 9:50 a.m. October 23, 2012, with her horror-struck husband of 51 years holding her hand. Jim is now one of the saddest men possible with the untimely loss of his greatest friend and the only true love in his entire life.
Meredith and Jim had a life together that was great fun and interest for both of them and their son, Eric. They first lived together in Paramaribo, Suriname where Jim was the American Vice Consul and later in Bonn, Germany where Jim was in the Economic Section of the American Embassy. Their son Eric was born in Paramaribo.
After a brief stint in Washington DC, Jim went to work for the IBM Corporation selling large computer systems and later joined the corporate staff of an IBM competitor. Meredith, Jim and Eric lived in many places in America including Washington DC; San Jose, California; Detroit, Michigan; Columbia, Maryland; Denver, Colorado and now Bountiful, Utah. During their family life together they also managed over the years to travel and visit something like 20 countries together. Thats a lot of moving around and traveling that only succeeded because Meredith was a marvelous, loving and sheltering woman whos quiet and perfect care sheltered and helped her whole family and anyone else she ever met. She also always extended her kind, happy personality to all she came in contact with – and that was a lot.
Her husband, Jim, never talked with a smarter or kinder person in his whole life. She was also very efficient and helpful with everyone and everything she did in her life. The 51 years of their marriage shaped Jims life more for the better than it would have been possible without his beloved Meredith.
Her husband, her entire extended Wright family and her much smaller Moss family uniformly describe themselves as devastated by Merediths totally unexpected, sudden and untimely death. She died at the peak of her mental, spiritual and physical life. She is one of lifes best women and a truly wonderful human being to and for all whom she met and loved with such an open and warm heart over her 74 years. Her entire family and many friends are heartbroken today.
Funeral services for Meredith will be held at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful on Monday, October 29, 2012. There will be a family and friends room set aside at 9:45 a.m. with the formal ceremony beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Brigham City Cemetery where many members of Merediths family and her parents are buried. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com. Flowers will be fine but a donation to a favorite charity would be even better.
