Six weeks ago as family and friends we celebrated the 90th birthday of Merle Boulton. On September 20th 2012, the day of his sealing, 66 years ago to his lovely wife Marian Backman Boulton in the Salt Lake Temple, he passed away of natural causes at Lakeview Hospital and joined his eternal companion.
Merle is a veteran of WWll where he served in the Army Aircorp providing communication between airbases in England and later throughout Europe. He retired from “Ma Bell” after 40 plus years of service as a lineman, installer and later on the test board, he loved to travel the United States and Canada with Marian covering countless miles, He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and as a young man attended meetings in the Wilford Woods furrier also known as the Woods Museum located in South Davis County.
He and his stories of growing up in this area will be missed greatly, he leaves amongst many legacies, a quiet unassuming nature with a quick wit, and one that at first meeting you knew you could trust him.
He is survived by his sons, Steven Richard, David Edward (Debbie), grandchildren Jason David (Ashley) Jackie Lynn Boulton, Jennifer Marie Boulton, Sister Adarine Riley, Wanda Burdett and brother Ray Boulton. Preceded in death by his wife Marian Backman, sister Maureen Nye and brothers Glen, Gordon, Hal and Robert.
