Merlin Gaile Gardiner 78, passed away in Bountiful, Utah of complications of kidney failure. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah but not too long afterward his family moved to Bountiful where he resided the rest of his life. He graduated from Davis High School in 1955 and served an LDS Mission to the Southern States Mission from 1957-59. Served in the US Air Force Reserves 1959-65. Married Marilyn George in the Salt Lake Temple on March 16, 1961. She preceded him in death in 2008. Survived by son, Scott Gardiner, and daughter Heidi Gardiner, preceded in death by son Cory Gardiner.
He enjoyed life, and was a many skilled man, as evidenced by his mastery of brick laying, supervising a team of linemen for the Bountiful City Light and Power Department, working at the Salt Lake Airport assisting those in need, and on the maintenance staff at Lakeview Hospital. Everywhere he worked or volunteered, he made friends and could talk to anybody. His life revolved around the LDS Church. Positions he held included being a Seventy, Sunday School Teacher, Bishopric member, High Priest Group Leadership, welcoming new members to the Ward, and a Home Teacher. He excelled at being a Home Teacher.
One of his great passions was reading. He especially delved into the scriptures and other scriptural readings. There was a want present to learn all he could about the Lord. Another passion was gardening. Often, the extras from his garden went to neighbors and friends.
