Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, dedicated uncle and friend returned home to his Heavenly Father unexpectedly on March 18, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was born on September 1, 1950 in New York City. He is the son of Eugene Dixon and the late Elizabeth Dixon. He married L. Diane Barker Dixon on June 1st, 1984 and they were sealed in the Bountiful Temple on December 5th, 1997. Mike married his best friend and love of his life and they had 34 wonderful years together.
Mike and Diane were blessed with 2 beautiful sons and numerous nieces and nephews they helped raise. Mike was a merchant marine for 4 years in New York City. He then moved to Utah so he could find his beautiful wife, Diane. Mike worked as an optician for 10 years and then decided to join the family trade and became a plumber. As he worked for his father in law at Big B Plumbing and became a master plumber. He went on to work for Neering's Plumbing for 23 years.
Mike was converted to the LDS church in 1996. He has served in many callings and is a member of the Orchard 8th Ward in North Salt Lake. His favorite calling was a scout leader. His ability to love and accept people, regardless of their 'station in life' drew people to him. His jokes and laughter will be missed.
Mike loved fishing and being outdoors. His other hobbies were cooking, reading, making lures, watching movies with his family and more fishing. Mike always looked forward to family get together's and the time he spent with family and friends. Mike could fix anything, he was exceptionally smart and could teach anyone.
Mike leaves behind his wife Diane, son Mikey and one grandchild Maddie Jean. He also leaves behind his father Eugene(Annette)Dixon, brother Andrew (Brandi) Dixon, and two sisters Elizabeth and Maria Dixon. As well as Dale, Judy(Mike) Perfili, David(Ann)Barker, Kathy(Brian)Fitzpatrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth, Dale (Jean) Barker, son Brandon (Erin, still living) Dixon, sister in laws JoAnn(Keith, still living) Harrop, Carol (Francis) Whitehead and brother in law, whom he followed to 3 plumbing companies and to heaven Dwayne(Cheri, still living) Barker.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Monday, March 26th, 2018 at the Orchard 8th Ward building, 55 E. 350 N., North Salt Lake, Utah 84054, where family and friends may visit Monday 9:45 – 10:45am prior to services. He will be buried at a later date next to his son in Centerville.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diane for Mike's final resting costs.
