Michelle Taylor West
December 16, 1960-January 30, 2015
The hills and the heavens are alive with the sound of joyful music for our Michelle, whose legacy of music will linger with family and friends beyond her cancer shortened life. Her most important performances were for her family as she became accomplished in both vocal and instrumental music. She earned a degree from the University of Utah in vocal performance and was soloist with the university a cappella choir. Through high school at Mt. Carmel in Poway, CA, Davis High and at Ricks College she had leading roles in several musicals, including "Maria" in "The Sound of Music". For many years she has been a soloist and played French horn with the Davis Celebration Orchestra in their performance of "The Messiah" in the Kaysville Tabernacle at Christmas time.
Born at Mercy Hospital in San Diego, CA on December 16, 1960 to Jesse (Jay) Taylor and Nedra Farr Taylor, her parents brought her to Farmington, Utah in 1977 so that she could find her eternal husband, Mark Ronald West, whose mother is Doris West and father Ronald G. West who is deceased. Their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple on November 19, 1983 resulted in four wonderful sons and a beautiful daughter and a full time career as a mother and grandmother of two.
LTJG Brian Mark West (Nikki) are parents of the two grandchildren, Brynlee and Lucas, and serve in the U.S. Navy in Charleston, SC; Michael Jesse West (Maria), Kaysville, is a returned missionary and graduate of Weber State University; Dallin Ronald West (Jenah), Roy, served a mission and is in medical training; Aubrey Christine West returned last week from her mission; and Jonathon Taylor West is in eighth grade at Kaysville Jr. High. Siblings are Brett Taylor (Donna), Farmington; Stuart Taylor (Becci),Ogden; Jared Taylor (Michelle), Syracuse; Tasha Taylor Parke (David), Carey, Idaho; and Cal Taylor (Gena), Syracuse; Steve West (Suzy), Salt Lake City; and Sherri West Hodson, Farmington.
Michelle's Christlike service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has blessed many and is being beautifully rewarded by so many who love the West and Taylor families. Michelle loved everyone, children adored her, she prepared each of her children for missionary service and musical enjoyment, and no one could be better at shopping and creativity for parties, decorations and costumes. Even after cancer treatments started to consume her life, she continued to play tennis with Mark and friends.
