Harriett Ferguson passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the age of &qoute;90&qoute;. She was born to Floyd C. Turner and Helen James Turner on February 10, 1919 in St. Charles, South Dakota. Her family moved to Portland, Oregon one year later. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1937 and went on to attend Compton School of Business. She was always admired for her beauty and bubbly personality. In the early summer of 1943 she met and fell in love with a very handsome Captain in the U.S. Army, Mel Ferguson. Throughout her life, mom was known for her culinary skills and kind heart. She was a wonderful, patient mother with seemingly endless energy. Regardless of the situation, she always had a positive attitude with a smile on her face. She was a friend to all and an enemy to none. Nobody could tell or remember a joke better than she. &qoute;I had a wonderful life. I married Mel Ferguson on August 4, 1943. He was the light of my life! We were married for fifty-five memorable years. We had four terrific children: Steven Margaret, Michael Nancy, Richard Kathy, and Kathy Phipps Clint. I am survived by my children; ten lovely grandchildren Ward, Joshua, Jason, Sarah, Mollie, Scott, Cristian, Michelle, Megan and Tim; and four great-grandchildren Parker, Emma, Lucy and Jay. My husband Mel, my grandson Christopher, and my very dear friend, Jerry Harvey preceded my in death.&qoute; At her request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Shriners Hospital for Children, Fairfax Road at Virginia Street, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84103.
