Morley Reed Sprague, 83, returned to our loving Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at his home in Fruit Heights, UT with his loving wife of 60 years by his side.
He was born March 29, 1931 in St. George, UT to Harvey and Nellie Arilla (DeGraw) Carter Sprague. He spent his early years in Pioche, NV, moving to Panaca, NV, where he was raised. He served in the US Army from 1949 to 1951, after which he graduated with honors from the University of Utah in accounting, then became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for 25 years, as well as an entrepreneur. His greatest pride in his entrepreneurship was the Arrow Press Square; however, he had many business interests, including those of an investment counselor; he owned four office complexes as well as several properties; Real Estate salesman and a Real Estate Broker; owning and managing Pearson Floral & Greenhouses as well as Mountain Creek Inn.
He was an active member of the LDS church and faithfully served in many callings.
He is survived by his grieving wife, Vaniece; children: Ruthann (Henry) VanTienderen, Damon Bradley Sprague, Collin (Rose) Sprague, and daughter for 7½ years, Tiedra; siblings: Patricia Clyde, Marilyn (Lyman) Spencer, Montie (Clara) Sprague, Cheryl Hall, Linda Praisner, and brother-in-law Stephen Peterson; 16 grandchildren: Ruben (Julia), Morley III (Virginia), T.J, Willie, Andrew (Mariah), Adelaide (Steven), Richard (Aubree), Tisha (Jeff), Natasha (Jermiah), Jennifer (Brad), Ashton, Alyse (Adam), Elexxys, Nathan, Tiedra, Aiden; and 15 great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Dominic, Jessie, Ruben, Julia, Kaili, Aurora, Cassandra, Ezra, Claire, Mirissa, Gino, Connor, Emma, and Caiman. He was preceded in death by his son, M. Reed (Cheryl) Sprague II; siblings: Marjorie, Harvey (Yvette), and George; and a great-granddaughter, Hope.
His fondest hobby was traveling the world with his family and wife, especially taking them to Lake Powell. He loved the outdoors – especially hiking, camping, fishing, and hunting. He had a brilliant mind and loved working with his hands. He was a jack-of-all-trades. He loved his toys, including his boats, motorcycles, campers, etc. He always accepted people for who they are, and loved them unconditionally. Well miss you and your soup and salsa. Save us a bowl in Heaven!
A big thanks to Collin and Rose Sprague, Ruthann VanTienderen, Cheryl Sprague, Morley Sprague III, Adelaide Willoughby, the Creekview Ward, and all our family members for all their help.
