Myra Stewart

Jesse and Sarah Carter welcomed Myra into their family October 8, 1914. She was the second of 10 children. She was born in South Carolina. She had many wonderful memories of her early years, having been part of a very loving, close family.
Myra moved to Utah in 1937. She dated her best friend and sweetheart, Randall Stewart. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on December 14, 1938. Their marriage was very special and they joyfully welcomed 3 children into their home. Sadly, Randall was killed in an accident after 12 short years of marriage, leaving her a widow at age 36. She missed him deeply, and strived to raise their children and keep his memory alive in their lives. She made home life fun for them. She was a devoted, wonderful mom. She gave up much of what she enjoyed doing to give them love and security. She worked at the Genealogical Society for many years, and was loved by many, even being a second mom to a number of girls who had moved away from home. She also was a second mom to many others she crossed paths with throughout the years.
Myra loved music, especially the violin, piano and singing. She sang in the “Oratorio Society, where they performed in Aspen Colorado, and the “Messiah” in the Salt Lake Tabernacle many years. She also loved gardening, reading, fall leaves, The Lawrence Welk Show, politics, being around her family, extended family, and friends, eating out with her kids, serving others and cooking. She was a master cook, being remembered for her wonderful rolls, apple pie, pot of beans, berry cobbler, beef roast, fried chicken and many more things too numerous to mention. She could always make room for one more at her dinner table.
Myra loved people, and loved to serve them. She had a special spot in her heart for small children. She loved to prepare treats for them (usually a cup cake paper cup filled with Cheetos, animal crackers, nuts, and whatever sounded good at the time). During the twilight of her life, and even through the devastation of dementia the last two years of her life, she frequently thought she was taking care of children, and would prepare treats for them. She worked very hard in what she was doing for them, and was relieved when we told her they finally went home with their mothers. This love and warmth she showed to many children throughout her life caused her to be a very special person to many.
Myra had a deep love for those in her family, extended family (her’s and Randall’s, and for her many friends.
Myra will always be cherished by those she left behind; son Mick (Susan) daughter Pat (Barry), son Bob (Jill) 11 grandchildren; Greg (Brenda), Jillayne (Greg), Jeff (Jen), Tyler (Michelle) Debbie (Jared), Kim (Chris), Jennilee (Mike), Randall (Candice), Brian, Jackie (Casey) and Chris. She also adored her 36 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Parker, Dorothy Huntsman, LaRue Lineberry, Josephine Davis, Carma & Joe Prows.
Her greatest legacy is a ‘Legacy of Love’…. Mom, what a joy it must be for you to be with your sweetheart after 62 years of separation. We look forward to spending the eternities with both of you. We love you tons!
Myra will be honored Thursday evening, April 11, 2013, at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah from 6-8 p.m. She will also be honored Friday morning, April 12, 2013 at the Bountiful 50th Ward, 33 South Moss Hill Drive, Bountiful, Utah, from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful 50th Ward.
