Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Myrna Irene Haywood Milligan passed away in her Bountiful home on Thursday, August 21, 2014.
Myrna was born on October 1, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to George Mark and Martha Irene Haywood. She attended schools in Salt Lake City, graduating from West High School, then went on to attend LDS Business College and the University of Utah. She married her adoring husband, Don Stephen Milligan, on January 21, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple, when they were sealed for time and all eternity. They had nearly 48 wonderful years together before Don’s death in 1998, and her family takes comfort in knowing that they are together again. Myrna was an active, faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held several positions. She was also active in the local community, serving as president of La Sertoma, a community service organization, and as secretary to several presidents of the Davis Chamber of Commerce. She retired from the U.S. West Telephone Company in 1990. No matter what she did, her keen intelligence was always evident.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers. She is survived by her three children, Susan (Alan Sr.), Don Jr. (Mericia) and Sheila (Rex), nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Family and friends may visit Tuesday, Aug. 26, from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street in Bountiful, or on Wednesday, Aug. 27 from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the LDS chapel located at 3707 S. 800 West in Bountiful. Funeral services will be held Aug. 27 at 11 a.m. at the same chapel.
