Nadine Smith Taylor died peacefully on May 31, 2017 in Bountiful, Utah at the age of 72. She was born on June 8, 1944 to Ray and Florence "Betty" Smith. She grew up in Centerville, graduated from Bountiful High in 1962, married Val Taylor in 1965, and raised her children in Centerville, around the corner from her best friend, Kathy Dalrymple. The marriage didn't last but the friendship did. Nadine long believed her entrance to heaven would be on Kathy's coattails, but Nadine got there first and on her own merits.
Nadine is survived by her seven children: Adam (Cindy), Jerri (Wes) Klafke, Jason (Tamra), Clayt (Michelle), Zak (Brenda), Joy (William) McMurrin, and Valerie Jordan; her 21 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; her brothers Steve and Val, and sister Lynn Packer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jack, her grandsons Seth and Braxton, and many treasured friends. Nadine loved her family, friends, and the Lord unceasingly.
Nadine was a bright, faithful woman with a sharp mind and a keen sense of humor. She worked hard and enjoyed good conversations. She was dedicated to fulfilling her many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and remembered most fondly her time working with the youth of the Centerville 5th Ward. If she didn't have her scriptures in hand, then she was mostly likely holding a fan of pinochle cards. She swore to the end that she never cheated.
The family would like to thank Mom's many devoted friends who blessed her life, the incredible staff at Heritage Place in Bountiful who cared for her with kindness for a decade, and the Encompass Home Health and Hospice aids who assisted her in her last weeks.
The funeral will be held Saturday, June 10, 11:00 a.m. in the Bountiful South Stake Center chapel, 1250 S. Main, Bountiful. Viewings are scheduled for Friday, June 9, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Saturday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the chapel prior to the funeral. Nadine will be laid to rest at the Morgan City Cemetery, close to many relatives, including her mother.
If you would like to make a donation in Nadine's memory, please consider giving to the LDS Perpetual Education or Missionary funds, or the Heritage Place activities fund.
