Nancy Jean Hadlow passed peacefully surrounded by family on September 22, 2023, and on her own terms. She was born on December 10, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio at St. John’s Hospital to Marguerite Adelle Good and John Willard Fox. She was the middle child of 3.
Nancy married James W. Hadlow on Jan. 20, 1951. They lived in North Olmstead Ohio where they raised their 4 children until 1973, when they moved to Bountiful, Utah.
Nancy retired from Lakeview Hospital as a dietary Supervisor after 15 years, then decided to volunteer one day a week at Meadowbrook Elementary. She was soon hired as a kindergarten TA and worked part-time for more than 10 years, but always came back to volunteer with the student council, sell beef jerky or help with the kindergarten students. She loved the children, and they loved her. Nancy said “Volunteering is the most fun I’ve ever had. Everybody should do it. It’s such a good experience.” “Each child is so precious and has his own little personality. If their mothers only knew what they tell me.”
Nancy was an excellent cook. Our family dinners were grand. She was always ready to feed the 1000’s. You couldn’t stop to visit her without her offering you a bite to eat.
Nancy never met an enemy. She talked to anyone anywhere. They were instant friends. She had a way of remembering names and details about people and always kept up to date about their family.
Nancy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings including Temple worker, Relief Society and Young women, but her most favorite calling was serving in the nursery. She served for many years until this past spring when she could no longer get down with the children. Nancy had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and loved her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ with all her heart.
Nancy is survived by her children Joy (Lane) Beattie, Jon (Nancy), James (Bonnie) and Jay (Stefanie). 12 grand-children and 27 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband James W. Hadlow Jr., both parents, and brother’s Jack Fox and Keith Fox. Nancy loved her family deeply. They were her pride and joy.
