Nancy Willard Vandegrift, born on May 21, 1934, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 in Lakeview Hospital, Bountiful, Utah, after more than a 2 1/2 year battle with multiple myeloma and kidney failure. She was the first of five children born to Arthur Ridgman Willard and Dorothy Luella Woodiwiss. She married Robert Lowell Vandegrift on January 20, 1952 at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. Nancy was a member of the First Baptist Church, Bountiful, and Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA), both for over fifty years. She loved to travel. She is survived by her husband, Robert, and children, Jana Lin Marsh (Clarence), Friendswood, Texas; Michael Arthur (Bonnie), Asheville, North Carolina; Douglas Clarke (Laurie), West Bountiful; Robert Kevin (Lisa), Woods Cross; Lori Lee Salas (Joseph), West Bountiful; Richard Travis, Woods Cross; and Dorian Paul (Heather), Bountiful. She is also survived by a brother, Gerald Arthur (Dee), Spring Creek, Nevada; Sharon Blanche Wilson (Allyn), Anchorage, Alaska; and Janice Diane Hawkins (Oren Dean), Wendell, Idaho. She has 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents and Betty June, her 2 1/2 month old sister who passed away in 1937.
Funeral services will be held at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Friday, March 28 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may visit Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, and Friday morning 10-10:45 a.m. at Camp Williams, prior to services.
