Neil Simpson Carmack

February 15, 1944 — October 17, 2018

Neil Simpson Carmack passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on October 17, 2018 of natural causes.  Neil was born February 15, 1944 in Ogden, Utah to Harold N. Carmack and Sarah M. Simpson. Neil was sealed to Karen Beyeler in the Salt Lake Temple on August 11th, 1966. Karen passed away April 3, 2008. Neil married Arlea Stasser on April 1, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Arlea, sons Quinn (Marielle) and Joshua (Emily), stepson Justin (Dawn) and stepdaughter Heather (Ryan), grandchildren: Ethan, Emma, Samuel, Eliza, Austin, Brighton and Griffin, step-grandchildren: Jacob, Levi, Rachel, Marcy and Elijah, his brother Brent Carmack (Nancy), and nieces and nephews. Neil was preceded in death by Karen, his parents, Harold and Sarah Carmack, brother Don Carmack and sister Kathleen Wilson.

Neil was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many callings, but especially enjoyed his calling as High Councilman in charge of building maintenance in the Centerville Stake. Neil served two missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints: the Franco-Belgian mission as a young man and, with Arlea, in the Ohio Cleveland Mission as a Family History Records Preservation missionary. Neil loved the University of Utah and took every opportunity to cheer on his Utes. He was always involved in youth sports and was especially supportive of his kids’ and grandkids’ sports and activities. Neil was a referee for youth soccer for many years and served his country honorably in the Army Reserves. Neil had a way of putting people at ease and in making them smile and laugh. He was loved by all he came in contact with and we will miss his love of family and sense of humor.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pheasant Ward, at the Rowland Way Chapel, 610 N. Roland Way, Centerville. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful and 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church on Thursday. Interment, Centerville City Cemetery. Deep appreciation is expressed to the many medical caregivers for their excellent care, love and support. Josh and Quinn wish to express their deep love and appreciation to Arlea Carmack for her unceasing love and care for Neil during this last year of home hospice care. She is truly an angel on earth. Neil's advice to his family in his last days was "Build a beautiful life." Online guestbook at www.russonmortuary.com
