Nelson "Mac" McNally

January 19, 1937 — January 4, 2014

Nelson Keith McNally “Mac” passed away on Saturday January 4th after an extended battle with Parkinson’s disease. We rejoice in knowing that his suffering is over and he now rests in the loving arms of his Savior. Nelson was born on January 19, 1937 in Waynoka, Oklahoma to Harry and Ruby McNally, and grew up in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Aurora High School in 1955. He then attended Abilene Christian University, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.

While attending ACU, Nelson met and married the love of his life Sharon Long. She remained by his side for over 54 years. Nelson and Sharon raised their four children in Aurora, Colorado until 1974 when they moved to Fruit Heights, Utah. Nelson is survived by his wife Sharon, and his four children, Dana Bryant (Rob), Keith McNally (Susan), Shauna Johnson (Donnie), Marni Anderson (Bryan), 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and Banjo. He is also survived by his sister Linda Hambek (Bill) of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Norman McNally.

Nelson was a faithful member of the Kaysville Church of Christ for 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing for lake trout at Flaming Gorge. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed working with his hands. He enjoyed watching or participating in anything competitive and rarely missed a Cubs, Broncos, Jazz or Utes game. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8 at Russon Brothers Mortuary 1941 N. Main, Farmington, UT. Interment will follow at Kaysville City Cemetery. Friends may call, on Tuesday 6:00pm – 7:30pm or Wednesday 9:30am – 10:45am. at the mortuary. The family would like to express their gratitude for the care shown by the staff of Life Care Center in Bountiful, and Inspiration Hospice.
