Noel Judd Williams

Noel Judd Williams quietly passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019.  He was born at home in Grantsville, Utah on June 3, 1930 to Clyde and Annie Judd Williams.  He was the ninth of eleven children.  He is survived by his wife Marilyn Inez Hutchinson Williams, brother Ross Williams (Nancy), his six children – Richard Noel Williams (Stacy), Kenneth Vincent Williams (Anita), Diane Carrie Burr (Terry), Janet Ann Anderson (Scott), Karen Lyn Spanbauer (Eric), Jacqueline Louise Terry (Matt), and 25 grandchildren and over 43 great-grandchildren.
He was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on June 4, 1938 and confirmed on June 5, 1938. Dad attended grade school and high school in Grantsville, Utah where he graduated in 1948.  He worked at the Tooele Army Depot until he was called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Northern States Mission from May 1950 – 1952. In September 1952, he was drafted into the United Sates Army and served in Korea for one year.  He later served at Fort McArthur in California where he met Marilyn Inez Hutchinson.  They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on November 22, 1954.  Noel attended BYU and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.  He received his Master's degree from the University of Utah.  He taught 6th grade at Bountiful Elementary for eight years and was assigned as the principal at South Bountiful Elementary in June 1965.  He also served as principal at Tolman Elementary and West Bountiful Elementary.  He retired in 1990.  Dad was active in the community and served on the Woods Cross City Council and then as Mayor of Woods Cross City.  He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in many callings including high councilor and bishop of the Woods Cross 1st Ward.  He was able to serve two missions with his wife, Marilyn; one to the Dominican Republic and one to the London England Temple where he served as a sealer.  He also served as a sealer in the Bountiful, Utah Temple.

Noel was a huge sports fan. He loved attending BYU football and basketball games and had season tickets for many years. He grew a vegetable garden and fruit trees and would share his bounty with friends and family. He enjoyed playing games and spent many hours playing them with family and friends.  He enjoyed camping, playing handball, golf, racquetball and many other sports.

We are grateful for our family and friends, as well as caregivers from Creekside Assisted Living and Rocky Mountain Hospice for their tender care these past 18 months.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Woods Cross 1st Ward, 2064 South 800 West. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, and Saturday morning 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
