Noel S. (Andy) Anderson

January 20, 1944 — December 6, 2021

Noel S. (Andy) Anderson passed away peacefully on December 6, 2021 at his home in Kaysville, UT. He was born to Deward C. & Nona S. Anderson on January 20, 1944, in Salt Lake City, UT. Noel grew up near the old Derks Ball Field shagging balls & sneaking into games every chance he got. He often rode his bike with his buddies to Decker Lake for an all-day of fishing fun. He was a baseball power hitter & had a lethal hit reputation. He graduated from South High School in 1962. Beginning at a young age, Noel worked hard which allowed him to retire from the Utah Department of Transportation as a Surveyor at the age of 50. Shortly thereafter, he and Cindy started an antiques business. Buying and selling was his passion. He gained many friends whom he loved and enjoyed along the way.

Noel was an avid collector of many things with hobbies galore. He loved his dune buggy, classic cars, fishing, boating, coin collecting, antiques, shot guns and rifles, swing dancing, old country music and rock & roll. Bottle digging at UT and NV ghost towns was a favorite, as well as playing blackjack with his daughter, Nola, in Wendover. He was a hunter to the core…. geese and deer were the unlucky ones.

Noel has two beautiful daughters. He adored them. He often reminisced about the funny things they said and did as children. Through their lives, he was proud of their accomplishments, and that they became responsible, independent, and successful adults. He was thrilled when he became a grandpa, quick to brag, and often said, “They can’t possibly be descended from me, they’re too smart!” A big part of his heart was devoted to his many four-legged canine kids as well.

In his heyday, Noel could fix anything and make something out of nothing. He was a jokester, trickster, quick witted with a huge heart of gold and a laugh we all loved. Although he was a man’s man, he wasn’t afraid to love and cry. He was always first in line to lend a helping hand to any & all in need.

Noel met his sweetheart, Cindy on the dance floor in 1984. They married in 1986 in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii. She was his devoted sidekick, and he loved her sense of humor and her determination.  He knew he had found the love of his life & enjoyed true happiness for almost 38 years. He loved that she cared for him for many years and especially that she allowed him dignity at the end of his battle.

Noel is survived by his wife Cindy, his daughters Nola (Gregg) Zarnstorff, Alexis Redmond, grandson Philip Redmond, granddaughter Jennifer Leaf, his dear little sister DeOna (Randy) Sorensen, nephews David Sorensen, Ryan (Heather) Sorensen, great nephew TJ Sorensen, as well as his Bailey family, to include sisters and brothers-in-law, his nieces, and nephews that he adored.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father & nephew Shane Sorensen.

Noel’s family would like to express their great thanks to his devoted friends and loving neighbors. A special thanks to Kristy, Emily and Marcos with Intermountain Homecare & Hospice for their kindness and compassion.

A celebration to honor Noel’s life will be held for his immediate family at a later date.  Noel’s laugh was big, his hugs all encompassing, and his life well lived!

**There will come a day when the tears of sorrow will softly flow into tears of remembrance…and your heart will begin to heal itself…and grieving will be interrupted by episodes of joy, and you will hear the whispers of hope. There will come a day when you will welcome the tears of remembrance…as a sun-shower of the soul…a turning of the tide…a promise of peace. There will come a day when you will risk loving, go on believing and treasure the tears of remembrance. Author unknown
