Nolan Bud Porter 85, passed away on Oct 22, 2013 at his home in Bountiful of pancreatic cancer. He was born to Ann and Jessie Porter of Lewiston UT. He loved sports and played on the state championship basketball team for North Cache High. He served an LDS mission to the Eastern States Mission. He married Helen Hackwell on May 5, 1955 in the Manti Temple. They built their home in Bountiful in 1961 where they resided for 52 years until his passing. Wonderful neighbors and friends blessed their lives. Bud worked in the electrical industry his whole career most notably for Thomas & Betts for 34 yrs. He was greatly admired by both customers and competitors. His life was one of service. Bud served on Temple Square for 20 yrs, Festival of Trees for 13 yrs, the Church History Museum for 10 yrs and Lakeview Hospital for 5 yrs. He is survived by their 4 children Steven (Jan) Porter, Leslie (Brian) Carmack, Jeff (Marilyn) Porter, JoLynn (Brandon) Atkinson, 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and his brother Boyd Porter. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, also an infant granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday Oct 26, 2013 at the Bountiful 31st Ward, 585 East Center. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Saturday 11:45-12:45 at the church prior to services. Interment – Bountiful Cemetery.
