Norma Edith Ashworth

Norma Edith Byington Ashworth, age 87, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away August 2, 2013, as a result of a fall.
She was born March 13, 1926 in American Falls, Idaho to Shirley and Edith Udy Byington, the oldest of five children. After graduating in 1944, she moved to Pocatello, Idaho and began working for the Union Pacific Railroad. She met and married Dave Ellett in 1946, and they were blessed with 3 children. They moved to Chinook, MT in 1953 and then moved to Utah in 1963. They were later divorced.
In 1968, Norma became a checker for the first Smith’s Food Store located in the Avenues in Salt Lake City. In 1974, she began microfilming for the State of Utah Division of Water Rights. She retired in 1991.
She met Mike Ashworth while square dancing at the church, and they married in 1975. They enjoyed ballroom dancing, bowling and fishing at their cabin at Strawberry Reservoir. Mike passed away in 2004.
Norma was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an avid Jazz fan, and loved crossword puzzles. She had a quick and witty sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands. Survived by her children: Greg (Cindy) Ellett, Centerville, UT., Jeff (Kathy) Ellett, West Jordan, Ut., Julie Ellett, Gresham, OR.; brothers, Lamoyne (Shirley) Byington, Boise, ID., DeVerl (Joan) Byington, Pleasant Grove, Ut., Roy (Margene) Byington, Riverdale, UT.; and sister, Udene (Dan) Slama, Ogden, UT.; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Wicker Lane LDS Chapel, 115 East Wicker Lane, Bountiful, Utah. A visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Monday morning 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Lake Point Cemetery.
