Norma Todd Johnson, beloved mother and grandmother, died Saturday, December 26, 2009 in Bountiful, Utah. She passed away just a few hours before her 90th birthday following a lifetime of service to family and church. Norma was born December 27, 1919 to W. Russell and Fannie Gagon Todd in Roosevelt, Utah. She was the second of 11 children. She rode a horse to school during her elementary years and enjoyed life on the farm. She graduated from Alterra High School in 1937 with academic honors and from LDS Business College. She worked for the Army Corp of Engineers during World War II. Norma married P. Wendel Johnson September 2, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died July 23, 2002. She supported him in his many academic and professional pursuits including helping him complete work for his doctorate at Boston University. They were a wonderful team always supporting each other in everything they did. Norma retired from the Ogden Internal Revenue Service after 17 years of service where she received awards for her work in transcription. Organization and attention to detail were her trademarks. She devoted her life to service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and left that legacy to her family. She served as Primary president, Mutual president, and twice as ward Relief Society president. She served on stake Primary and Relief Society boards. She was an ordinance worker with her husband in the Ogden LDS Temple as well as the Atlanta and Denver LDS temples. Norma served five LDS missions with Wendel. Her last mission was at the age of 75 while they were serving in the New York New York South Mission Brooklyn. She enjoyed her association with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Camp Golden. Norma is survived by her five children, Phil Johnson Mary, Murray; Kathy Ron Taylor, Kaysville; Brent Leila, Centerville; Wendy Ron Hodson, Syracuse; and Norma Jean, Black Canyon City, AZ., daughter-in-law, Janet S. Johnson, So. Ogden; Fifteen grandchildren have fond memories of her M&M cookies, homestyle breakfasts, and strong work ethic. She has 28 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Nedra Mohlman, Bountiful; Keith Pat Todd, Bountiful; Howard Maxine Todd, Bluebell; Joanne McKenna, Smithfield; her sisters-in-law, Ruby Johnson and Eunice Beth Nelson, Salt Lake City; Chell Todd, Cambridge, ID; and by many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the staff of The Cottage at Legacy House in Bountiful where Norma lived for the past two years, and to IHC Hospice Cathy and Laura for their loving care of Mom and support to the family. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 12:00 noon at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 North Main Street, Farmington, UT next to Cherry Hill where family and friends may call at the mortuary from 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. prior to services on Thursday. Interment in the Roosevelt City Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, January 2, 2010 with graveside services at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Perpetual Education Fund.
