Norma Springer Sorensen

August 18, 1924 — December 31, 2018

Norma Springer Sorensen passed away peacefully on December 31, 2018 at the age of 94. Norma was born August 18, 1924, in Salt Lake City, UT, to her loving parents, John Springer and Eva Winifred Johnson.

Norma attended Stoker Elementary, Bountiful Junior High, and Davis High School, where she graduated in 1942. Fresh out of high school, Norma operated one of three elevators in the Hotel Utah’s front lobby. She enjoyed taking movie stars such as Bing Crosby, Wallace Beery, Tarzan’s son Boy, and others to their floors or to the roof garden. Two of Norma’s favorite jobs were telephone operator for Mt. Bell, before dial systems, and also clerk/typist for Hill Field, UT.

Norma married Rodney Pearce Sorensen on September 16, 1943 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Norma served many LDS callings, including an 18-month service mission in the Church office building as a member locator. Norma had a deep love for and testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ, the Restored Gospel, and the inspired Constitution of the United States.

Norma forever expressed her love and appreciation to her hard working husband Rod, and to her devoted sons and their wives, R. Gregory (Karla), Danny S. (Allyn), Gary S. (Jo), Lane S., Rick (JoAnn) Hanson, Jeff Hanson, and to her daughter Cathy (Ron Burns). She loved her 32 grandchildren and some 38 great grandchildren, including nieces, nephews, and extended family members. They are her treasures forever.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her three siblings, Marjorie (Preston Hughes), Jack (Myrtle), Jean (Ray Manning).

The family will never forget the service of her great friends. A special thanks to Legacy Hospice; especially Stephanie and Ashley.

Funeral services will be held at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, on Saturday, January 5, at 1:00 p.m., with a public viewing from 11:45-12:45.
