Norma Tuttle Erickson

March 12, 1918 — September 17, 2018

Our sweet, beloved mom, grandma and great-grandma Norma Tuttle Erickson completed her earthly mission and passed away peacefully on September 17, 2018 in Bountiful, Utah. Norma was the oldest of seven children of Lloyd and Vera Tuttle and was born on March 12, 1918 in Manti, Utah where she spent her childhood. She attended and graduated from Snow College and Brigham Young University. She married the love of her life – Austin J. Erickson on March 22, 1941 in the Manti Temple. Austin passed away in 2001. They had a wonderful life together and enjoyed traveling the world. Norma and Austin lived in Albuquerque and Las Cruces, New Mexico and South Salt Lake, Logan and Bountiful, Utah in their adult lives. Norma was 100 years old and lived in her home until her passing. Norma and Austin were the parents to five children: Barry (Karla), Myra Hendricks (Larry), Joyce Denning – deceased (Steve), Gene (Pam), and Dave (BJ). They have 27 grandchildren and 87 great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy. Norma loved teaching elementary school and taught both second and third grades. She loved and enjoyed every child she taught. She was a devoted active member of the LDS church, loved her Savior, attended the temple every week and held many church callings and lived a life of service to others. Norma and Austin served a mission to the Alabama Birmingham Mission. She was an accomplished seamstress and made a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. She also made baby quilts for most of her great-grandchildren. She lived a very full, active life. The key to a long life was good food, plenty of sleep, going to church, finding joy, staying busy and vanilla ice cream. Family love, loyalty to each other and their family were the most important parts of Norma and Austin's lives. Norma is preceded in death by her parents, husband Austin, Joyce Denning (daughter), sisters Gwen Monroe (Lamar), Delma Dyreng (Paul), Janet Stott (Carl); brothers Wayne (Ruth), Earl (Ellis)and McLloyd (Rowena).
