Norman "Alden" Caldwell

June 27, 1952 — August 29, 2022

Norman “Alden” Caldwell, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on August 29, 2022. Alden was born June 27, 1952, in Salt Lake City, to Ned Alden Caldwell and Elva Lucile (Spilker). Alden was raised in Brigham City, where he graduated from Box Elder High School. He continued his education at Utah State University with a degree in microbiology. Alden married Carla Darlene (Keck), his high school sweetheart, on October 6, 1972.

Alden led a life dedicated to his family as a father. To financially support his family, Alden spent forty years in his occupation as a pharmaceutical sales representative, and then later selling RV’s after his initial retirement. When he was not working, Alden spent his time coaching his kids’ soccer teams, attending their games and recitals, teaching his kids to hunt, fish and ski. Alden took the family on numerous road-trip vacations from Canada to Mexico – with these family vacations continuing to the end of his life…although the long car rides were eventually replaced with plane tickets. Alden also had numerous church callings over the years – both at the ward and stake level, and he enjoyed singing in the church choir.

Alden had the same enthusiasm for family with his thirteen grandchildren. The majority of his retirement years were spent travelling to attend his grandchildren’s games, recitals, baptisms, and graduations – as well as teaching the grandkids to fish, play games, or just share jokes and stories from when he would get into trouble with his brothers while growing up. Alden and Carla, when not vacationing with family, took numerous vacations with friends – and always had multiple upcoming vacations on the calendar.

Alden is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, and their four children Adam (Dani), Sherry (Chris), Tami (Ben) and Angie. Alden was the proud grandfather of thirteen grandchildren – Bekah, Sammie, and Nathan Caldwell; Logan, Carter, and Tessa Mullen; Brayden, Ella, and Bridger Stark; and Jeffrey, Jack, Annie, and Emma Simmons. Alden is also survived by his five siblings – Gordon, Craig, Larry, Gwen Bradshaw and Trudy Jensen.
