Norman Elmo Petersen

Norman Elmo Petersen passed away peacefully at home on November 1, 2017.

He was born on November 2, 1933, in Fielding, Utah, to Claudius Niels Petersen and Jane Elma Christensen.

After graduating from Bear River High School, he attended Salt Lake Area Vocational School (now Salt Lake Community College).  He served an LDS Mission to Copenhagen Denmark, and upon his return he married Marguerite Burton in the Logan Temple on July 21, 1958.

He worked for Sperry (Unisys), first as a machinist and then as an inspector in the calibration laboratory before transferring to the accounting department.  He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings during his lifetime, including Bishop of the Orchard First Ward and Bountiful Temple ordinance worker.

He was dedicated to his family and enjoyed spending time with them.  He loved to travel and read and enjoyed woodworking and photography.  He spent many hours working in his yard, especially taking care of his roses.

He is survived by his wife, four children, Carolee (George) Cavalier, Peggy Jane (Donald) Nish, Bruce Todd (Susan) and Lisa (Daniel) Payne, eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his siblings, Dr. J. Claine (Irene) Petersen, C. Glen (ReVoe) Petersen, Arlene Macfarlane and Marie (Milton) Bywater.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, VaLois Sorensen and Bernice Allen

The family would like to thank Karen, Renee, Laura and Lisa from IHC Homecare and Hospice for their loving care and service and Fred from Senior Companion Program.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017, at the Eagleridge Ward Chapel, 351 Lofty Lane, North Salt Lake, Utah.  Friends and family may call on Sunday, November 5, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street in Bountiful, and on Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.  Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
