Norman C. Stout

Norman Clarence Stout, age 85, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away peacefully Friday, October 20, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 4, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Clarence Harvey and Lola Douglas Stout.

Norm graduated from West High School and Weber State University. He joined the U.S. Army to serve the country he loved. A servant at heart, at age 20, Norm joined God’s army and proclaimed the gospel as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northwestern States mission. He served two additional missions throughout his life. He retired from the military, as a communication specialist, and from the State of Utah, as a Human Resource Manager.

Norm married Sandra Mitchell Stout in 1963, where they established roots in Bountiful and were blessed with four sons. As a father, he instilled his values of integrity, hard work, kindness, and love of the gospel into his sons. He enjoyed spending time and creating memories with those he held dear.

Norm was an avid student of scriptures and loved learning. Norm enjoyed numerous hobbies and interests. He took pleasure in flying and planes, sailing, cars, riding motorcycles, ham radio, music, or just napping. Norm had more watches than wrists, always collecting them. He freely provided watches to those around him—giving them the gift of more time.

His collection of flashlights was unparalleled, and he lit up the world by giving flashlights to everyone. He enjoyed treasure hunting—otherwise known as shopping at the Deseret Industries. His humorous wit and memorable story telling gave rise to laughter and smiles. Norm will be truly missed by his family and friends by whom he is dearly loved.

Norm was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Doug Stout, and daughter-in-law Tecia Finlinson Stout. 
He is survived by his wife of 60 years and sons Craig (Chris), Dave (Nicole), Brent, and Ben (Cathy). He has twelve grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel located at 3599 Orchard Drive, Bountiful, Utah, 84010. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Norm will be laid to rest in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
