Olen Russell Sheriff, our Patriarch, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend was reunited with his sweetheart on May 17, 2022, at the age of 95 with his children by his side. Olen met the love of his life while on leave from the army Marilyn Fullmer (Granny). He told his mother that night he met the woman he was going to marry. They married July 16, 1947 in the Manti temple. They made their permanent home in Centerville, UT where they raised their four children.
Olen learned to work hard early in his life and never stopped. He hunted and chopped wood with his father using horse and wagon. He called crews for the Union Pacific railroad, served in the Army (demolitions) from June 1945 and was honorably discharged December 1946. He was a Butcher, Janitor, owned and operated a Sanitation business, Mechanic, Metallurgist, Mason tender, Lead melter, Truck driver and LOVED 20 years driving school bus! He said he was a Jack of All Trades, Master of none. He became self-taught through a lifetime of reading. The Book of Mormon and Louis L’Amour were his favorites. He loved road trips, family gatherings, his yard, and bearing his testimony. He could be found lunching at Wendy’s at 11:30 every weekday since 2000 with his buddies and anyone who wanted to join them.
Olen and Marilyn served a mission to the Missouri St. Louis mission in 1999. His devotion to Marilyn (Granny) was unparalleled. His greatest pleasure was his Christ-like caring for her until her passing March 20, 2020. He bore his testimony in word and deed and was a faithful servant to his Father-in-Heaven, friends, neighbors and family.
Olen is survived by his children, Russell Guy (Ann Schwartz), Zeffie Nelson-Barton (Steve Barton), Merrill Lynn F. (Kathy Pace), JaRene (Mark Evertsen), Sisters Donna Little and Nona Duncan, 18 grandchildren and 67 great grandchildren.
