Olga Elizabeth Gonzalez

Olga Elizabeth Gonzalez, beloved grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and nurse.

Olga is survived by her son Christopher Gonzalez, daughter Minerva Elizabeth Gonzalez, and daughter-in-law Katrina Gonzalez; Grandchildren: Maya Elizabeth Merino Perez, and Cohen Tyson Gonzalez; Brothers: Atillio Merino, Adalberto Merino, and Wilfred Merino.

God will now be able to welcome into his kingdom one of the toughest and most stubborn women he has  created.  Olga was born on November 17,1954 in San Jose Guayabal, El Salvador to Maria Merino and Adalberto Berrios. At a young age, Olga was sent to live with her grandmother where she stayed until she was 16 years old. She came to the United States when she was 17 years old alone to forge a new life for herself in Los Angeles. While in the United States she worked two jobs in order to send money to help her family in El Salvador. She married Arturo Gonzalez whom she was married to for 25 years. Together they had two kids and she dedicated her life to raising them.  She was strict and showed her children tough love. She wanted nothing but to  provide a better life for her children. She went against the social cultural norm of staying home and being a housewife. Olga decided to get her GED, she then went to Compton Community College where she successfully received her LPN nursing degree. In 1996 she moved to Bountiful, Utah with her family where she began her nursing career. She brought the same tough love and strict atmosphere to the workplace. She dedicated herself to her job and her patients and was a strong advocate for them. . She was fearless and fierce but was also a kind and compassionate person. She was always there for her family whom she appreciated very much. Olga will always be remembered for the person she was, a strong, fearless, compassionate, and loving mother.  She always referred to herself as being a survivor.  She acknowledged that the hardships she faced throughout her lifetime not only made her stronger but it also made her have the courage to be able to face any obstacle. Olga succumbed to complications from several surgeries due to a rare heart tumor on October 10, 2021.
