Orson Taylor Casper, 97 died on May 18, 2015 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born on November 5, 1917 in Garfield, Idaho to Myron Cleneth and Mable Taylor Casper. He was the fourth of eight children. All of his siblings preceded him in death. He married Ardell Schwendiman in the Salt Lake Temple on December 27th 1941. He is survived by his wife, his only child, a son Brian, a daughter-in-law Susan, two grandsons Craig and Jeff and four great grandchildren. A granddaughter, Andrea preceded him in death. He graduated from Ucon High School and attended the University of Idaho at Pocatello. He served an LDS mission in the southern states. He worked at Lockhead Aircraft and was drafted to serve in the Navy. After being discharged at the end of the war they moved to Salt Lake City where he was employed in a steel fabrication business. Later he attended a technical school which led to his employment at Hill Air Force Base testing and repairing aircraft radar systems. In order to be closer to his work they moved to Bountiful. He retired in 1980. They served a mission in Rochester New York at the Palmyra, Hill Cumorah and other area visitor centers and later a mission in the Salt Lake Membership Department. They served as ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple early mornings on Thursday and Friday for 21 years. During the retirement years they traveled throughout the United States, to Europe, Israel, Hawaii, Alaska and Central America. Orson and Ardell were both raised on farms. Their home in Bountiful included a large garden and fruit trees. They were hard working and grew a variety of vegetables and fruit that was shared with others. In 2013 they realized that they could no longer manage the home, yard and garden, and they moved into The Inn at Barton Creek, an assisted living facility. There will not be a visitation or funeral. There will be a remembrance at the Russon Brothers Mortuary in Bountiful on Thursday May 21 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Bountiful Cemetery.
