Husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed from this life peacefully, Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015 surrounded by family.
Curly was born Feb. 6, 1932 in Rogers, NM to Orvill Thomas Roweton, Sr. and Georgia Lula Austin Roweton.
He was the oldest of 3 children. He attended country schools in Rogers, NM. The family moved to Montrose, CO in 1948. He was a graduate of Montrose High School and attended Mesa College.
He answered the call of his country and served during the Korean War in the Infantry Division. He received the Korean Service Medal and the Bronze Star.
August 8, 1956 he married Myrtle Lucille Handley in Grand Junction, CO. Their marriage was sealed in the Manti Temple, Oct. 28, 1961.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He faithfully served as an ordinance worker in the Vernal, UT Temple and in many other callings. He retired from Public Service Co. of Colorado after 32 years in the Accounting Department. He was employed by NAPA Auto for 10 years.
Curly was a “true cowboy” and loved working with his friend Jim Todd in the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and supporting his family (kids and grandkids) at athletic events.
He is survived by his wife Myrtle, sons Randal M. Roweton, Mark H. (Tina) Roweton, Eric H. (Sophia) Roweton, 3 grandsons, 10 granddaughters, 5 great granddaughters and 6 great grandsons and sister Leatrice (David) Wyatt. Preceded in death by parents, and sister Frances Wright.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main St., Farmington, UT. Interment – Milford City Cemetery.
