Orville Edison Hinerman, Jr.

July 13, 1939 — January 21, 2021

Our father and grandfather, Orville Edison Hinerman, Jr. passed away January 21, 2021 in Salt Lake City after a brief illness, only 32 days after the passing of his wife of 54 years, Sonie. Orville was born July 13, 1939 in Glasgow, Montana, the son of Orville Edison Hinerman, Sr. and Mabel M. Krause. An only child, Orville developed close relationships with his cousins in his youth. Orville spent his early years on the family farm near Larslan, Montana before moving to Bozeman, Montana, where he graduated from Gallatin High School. Orville served 7 ½ years in the Montana National Guard. Orville married Saundra Rae (‘Sonie’) Jamieson on October 21, 1966 in Salt Lake City, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Utah Temple. Orville and Sonie moved to Bountiful in 1968 and called it home the rest of their lives.
Orville began his career in the printing industry in Montana before moving to Utah, where he would eventually work for the Davis County Clipper, Newspaper Agency Corporation, Ogden Standard Examiner and finally the Salt Lake Printing Center, from which he retired in 2001. During his retirement, Orville enjoyed traveling and particularly looked forward to an annual reunion held with his cousins each summer in Montana, as well as trips to Georgia to visit family and tour Civil War sites.
Orville was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent several years serving in financial and membership callings as a longtime member of the Bountiful 13th Ward. Never one to seek attention, Orville quietly went about doing good, serving those in need around him throughout his life. Orville was a dedicated and tireless caregiver to his wife in the final years of her life.
Orville is survived by sons Scott (Teresa) Hinerman, Centerville, and Todd Hinerman, Spring Creek, Nevada, grandchildren Danton, Abby, Breydan, Sydney (2 children), and J.T., brother-in-law Ken (Rebecca) Jamieson and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A small viewing for family and close friends will be held on Tuesday, January 26th at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm with funeral services following at 2:00 pm.
