Biography

Orvis DeMont Call a humble servant of our Heavenly Father was welcomed back into His arms on February 2, 2013 with his family by his side. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather and friend.
De was born November 14, 1916 in Rigby, Idaho to Orvis Truman Call and Hazel Isabelle Kite. He moved to Magna Utah when he was 6 years old. He attended Cyprus High School where he competed in several athletic sports and received the American Legion Award. He joined the Army in 1941 and served with the 558th Signal Aircraft Warning Company.
He married his sweetheart Marjorie Dixon on November 20, 1943 in San Francisco, California then later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple January 14, 1946. He was the father to 4 daughters, Grandfather to 18 grandchildren, 53 great grand children and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He spent many years doing extractions for the Genealogy program. He served in the Young Men’s organization, he held several positions in the High Priest Quorum, and served in various other callings. He was a dedicated home teacher and was always willing to render service to those in need.
He enjoyed fishing, tying flies, camping, gardening and keeping a daily journal. He always looked forward to his weekly work outs at Gold’s Gym. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He and his wife served an LDS Mission at Welfare Square Employment office.
Dad was a devoted husband and father and showered his family with unconditional Christ like love and acceptance that knew no bounds.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him; his legacy will live on through his children and grand children.
He leaves behind 4 daughters Dixie Wertz of New Mexico, DeAnna Allred (Ray) of Taylorsville, Debra Ann Mitchell (Larry) of Riverton and Denise Maddock (Brent), of Centerville and brother Clifton Boyd Call (Orem). He was preceded in death by his sweet wife, his parents, in-laws, brothers and son -in law.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2013at Rosecrest 2nd Ward Chapel, 3101 S. 2300 E., Salt Lake City. Friends and family may call on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Rosecrest Ward Chapel from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and from 9:30 – 10:45 am. at the church prior to services. Interment- Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.
We express our deepest thanks and appreciation to the medical staff at IMC, Applegate Hospice and his two guardian angels Carrie and Lisa who have shown their compassion and love over the years.
Our family we would like to thank our Heavenly Father for the special years we’ve had together. Dad we love you and will miss you everyday of our lives, until we meet again.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in De’s name to the LDS Church Missionary fund.
