Owen C Betteridge – Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Patriarch and Friend. Born August 19, 1937 to Wallace Howard and Sarah Elizabeth Betteridge in Ogden, Utah. Passed away from this earthly life on November 7, 2018. While he is having a glorious reunion with those who have passed before those of us left are heartbroken. He is a man of honor and his word was his bond. He was a wonderful husband and father and grandfather and enjoyed being with his eternal companion and his family more than anything. He had a testimony of Jesus Christ and tried daily to live not to offend. While he suffered with PSP for 12 years he never complained. He is returning to his Heavenly Father with Honor.
Raised in the Montello, Nevada and Grouse Creek, Utah area the majority of his life, he graduated from Montello High School with honors.
He started working for the Southern Pacific when he was 18 and worked for them for over 41 ½ years and took his family on tons of adventures while exploring the western part of the United States and in Kansas and Texas. He finally settled down in Montello, Nevada for a short time and in Winnemucca, Nevada where he retired. He served in various Church callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where his last calling was a Patriarch.
He is survived by his wife Lu of 63+ years, his daughter Holly, son Boyd (Linda) Grandchildren Phillip (Lindsey); Nathan (fiancé Leslie) and Sarah Hansen (Shawn) and two beautiful great granddaughters Maquel and Millie; Brother Darwin (Donna) and Sister Vivian King, Janice Christensen, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Those proceeding him in death were his parents, brother Vernon and sisters Fay, Opal and Marva.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, November 12, 2018 at the Springhill Ward Chapel, 351 South Lofty Lane, North Salt Lake, UT., where a viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and Monday morning 9:30-10:30 am prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
