Parlee Walton Reed

d. August 21, 2005

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Parlee Jewel Reed, age 88, passed away August 21, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born in Paul, Idaho on August 1, 1917, daughter of Orson Frances and Lydia Ellen Higley Walton. Married Elmer William Reed on March 3, 1937. Solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple December 2, 1948. She was raised in East Layton, Utah and as a young girl after her mother passed away, helped raise her brothers and sisters and worked with her father in the fruit orchards. When she was first married, she helped Elmer start a business, doing the bookkeeping and driving trucks where they hauled sand and gravel. Later, after her children were raised, she worked in the school lunch program. Parlee will be remembered by her embracing personality where she could make friends anywhere and everywhere she traveled. She enjoyed spending time at the Bountiful Senior Citizen Center where she could dance, eat and socialize. She was an accomplished bowler and a wiz at cards, but her most precious possessions were spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer William Reed, son, Robert William Reed, and a very special companion Joseph Porter. Parlee leaves from this world one son, Mark Sherrie Reed in Salt Lake City, Utah; three daughters, Jackie Jones, West Jordan, Utah; Kathy Hatt, St. George, Utah; and Pat Adams, Big River, California; her 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2005 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main where friends may call Wednesday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Thursday morning from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
