Biography

Pascual (Paco) Damaso Gutierrez of West Bountiful, passed away on August 2, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 76.
Paco was born in Glen Cove, New York on October 29, 1935 to Batisar Damaso Gutierrez and Elizabeth Toth. Paco has an older sister Valentina Massie. After graduating from high school, Paco joined the Navy and spent 4 years aboard a naval carrier. He graduated and worked as a tool maker for GE, IBM and Stone Container, before retiring in 2000.
On November 22, 1958 Paco married Marlene Johnston. They had two daughters, Gina and Jill and resided in Wappingers Falls, New York. The family relocated to San Jose, California in 1977. In 1984 he bought a business in Nacadoches, Texas and was divorced shortly after.
On March 29, 1986 Paco married Marilyn Hatch in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They resided in San Jose, California initially and later settled in West Bountiful. Paco was an animal lover, specifically of dogs and horses. He had several Weimaraner dogs that he loved and cared for that were treated as members of the family.
Throughout his life, Paco always helped others; whether it was trimming trees, cutting lawns, lending his tools, he was always there for someone. Paco generally had a smile and always stopped and talked to everyone. He had a great sense of humor. He never met a stranger.
Paco joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1966. He held many callings, among them a Boy Scout Master, a High Priest Secretary, and most recently a Missionary at the Bishop’s Storehouse in Kaysville, Utah. Paco looked forward to going each week, and helping someone in need. He was probably best known for being an exceptional Home Teacher, which was a calling he took very seriously. He attended the temple weekly.
Paco is survived by his sister, Valentina Massie; his wife, Marilyn, two daughters, Gina Swift and Jill Spencer (Darrell); six grandchildren Torian Carrillo, Kody Swift, Christian, Jackson, Jared and Daniel Spencer; and one great-grandson, Francisco Carrillo Gomez, Jr.
