Patricia Ann Jensen Harris, 80, daughter of Anna Marie Andersen Rogers and John Garretson Rogers, passed away on September 27, 2014, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Pat was born in Salt Lake City, grew up with two older sisters in the Sugarhouse district and attended East High School. While there, Pat met Raymond LeRoy Jensen, and they were married shortly after graduation; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. After a short move to Hollywood, California, where Ray completed his education as a commercial artist and draftsman, Pat and Ray returned to Bountiful to make their home and raise their 3 children. Pat also embarked on a distinguished 31-year career at Primary Children’s Hospital as executive secretary for the Director of Nursing, the Section Chief of the Division of Neonatology and ultimately for the Medical Director of the Hospital/Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, University of Utah College of Medicine.
A few years subsequent to her husband Ray succumbing in 1988 to a prolonged illness, Pat married Dr. Thomas Harris, a neonatologist for whom she had previously worked and had known for many years. Pat and Tom moved briefly to Grand Junction, Colorado, and then to Phoenix and Yuma, Arizona, eventually retiring to Midway, Utah. They found great happiness and companionship together, and loved traveling, attending concerts and plays and visiting museums, National Parks and historical places here in the U.S and overseas. Pat accompanied Tom on his frequent lecture trips, and took up machine sewing of the most beautiful patchwork quilts, presented as gifts to many family members.
More than anything else, Pat loved her family and cherished every moment they had together. She loved family get-togethers – family picnics and parties, family outings and vacations – anything having to do with family. She was always whipping up a family happening and, of course, a meal to go along with it. She dearly loved her children, her grandchildren, her sisters, her mother and her large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and many in-laws. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her and felt of her abundant love and caring.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Harris, and by two of her children, Bryan Jensen (Camille) and Julie Smith Green (David) plus 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray, her parents, her two older sisters, Marjorie Wood and Dorothy Thiessen and by her oldest son Jon Jensen (Linda).
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at the Legacy House of Bountiful and Aspire Hospice for the loving care they gave to Mom during the last four of her declining years.
