Patricia Hoagland Newman

September 21, 1934 — April 6, 2016

On this beautiful spring morning, April 6, 2016, and after a valiant battle with kidney disease, our beautiful, talented and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully into God’s arms.

Patricia was born September 21, 1934 in SLC, UT to Marian Ruth Hoagland and Charles Newell McClellan.  She attended West High School and was an accomplished pianist, having been awarded a music scholarship to Sherwood Music School in Chicago.

Married to her devoted husband and eternal sweetheart, Gerald Eric Newman August 13, 1951.  Later sealed in the SLC LDS Temple.

Patricia was an amazing and talented seamstress, and spent her lifetime giving of her talents and keeping those she loved dressed immaculately.

Besides enjoying her life with Gerald, she loved children and excelled as a homemaker, cook, and nurturer.  She possessed the class of a proper and elegant “English Lady”.  Each new person she met became a friend for life.

Patricia had a love of the outdoors, spending several years in the beautiful Uinta Mountains as a camp host where she and her best friend and soulmate Gerald, acquired many new friends.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren who affectionately called her “Nuh Nuh”.  She was generous and humble, yet shared her contagious sense of humor with those closest to her.  She loved a practical joke.  She was the perfect mother to her children and also their best friend.

She will be missed by countless family, friends and so many more whose lives she touched.

Preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Stephen and George.

Survived by her husband of 64 years, five daughters, and one son, Christine (Paul), Marianne (Butch), Maurene (Mike), Patricia (Martin), Robert (Jacquelin), Elli (Jim). 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and 2 on the way.

A special thank you to Liberty Dialysis, and Silverado for their tender, loving care of our sweet wife and mother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bountiful Shadows Ward, 1476 N. 300 W., Bountiful, Utah.  Viewings will be held Friday, April 8 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, Utah, and from 11:45 a.m. -12:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service.  Online guestbook at www.russonmortuary.com.
