Patricia Jean Petersen

March 11, 1936 — May 2, 2018

Pat was born March 11, 1936 to Joseph H. Wood and Freda Bushman Wood, she passed away May 2,2018. Pat grew up in North Salt Lake City, Utah, as the middle child who ruled “The Brothers” with love, kindness and a little bit of bossiness. She graduated from Davis High School in 1954.

She met William (Bill) C. Petersen while working at Western States Refinery. He was the love of her life and they were married on June 29, 1957. They shared almost 50 years together and she missed him dearly when he passed away in 2006. Bill’s career took them to Belmont, California where they built a life together. Pat worked as a secretary for GTE, Verizon, then retired from Sprint Corp in 1991. Pat moved back to Bountiful, Utah, in 2008.

Pat and Bill never had children, only doggy kids. Pat loved taking her dog, Mandy, to hospitals and nursing homes to visit and bring her sunshine. She loved crafting, all animals, and especially the 49ers!

Pat was a ray of sunshine wherever she went. She had a sassy personality and loved to joke, tease, and have fun. Pat was very meticulous – she labeled and dated everything in pencil.

Pat lived the past 10 years at Heritage Place where she made many friends. She loved her nephews and nieces and their grandchildren very much.

Survived by her brother Bill (Maxine) Wood, nephews, Rod, Tony, Gordon, Mark and nieces Pam and Kathy. Also her 38 grand nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, brother Jack, and nephew K.C. Johnson.

Auntie Pat was such a delight we will miss her always. We’d like to give much thanks to Pat’s dearest friends, Fernando, Maria, Anthony and Angela Forinha, and Mike Robertson who have loved and supported her in every way for many years. Also, we’d like to thank all her friends at Heritage and LifeCare where she received such loving, kind care; especially from Gloria Barfuss, her sweet Relief Society President.

The viewing will be on Monday, May 7th from 9:45 am to 10:45 am, with funeral services following at 11:00 am at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N Main Street, Bountiful, Utah.

Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 E 500 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
